Providence Regina House, 4th place

May 26th, 2010

I wanted to let everyone know that despite an AMAZING voting effort (we got over 3,700 votes!!) we came in 4th Place in the voting for the KOMO/BROTHERTON annual community champions $5000 award. We were beaten by a cop supporting Special Olympics (how can we diss that?!?!?) who ended up with over 67,000 (yes THOUSAND) votes!!

Thank you as always for your unending support of our food and clothing banks. I can’t tell you how much I love calling on our community to help! YOU ALWAYS COME THROUGH FOR US! :)

Best to you all,
Paige

PLEASE take a moment to vote

PLEASE take a moment to vote for ‘Todd Hunsdorfer’s idea’ on this link…

http://www.justmeans.com/take-action/GardenGrantContest

If this money is granted, Providence Regina House food bank would receive a GREAT deal of fresh, organically grown produce in the long run. Read the idea, it’s inspiring! Todd is the Project Manager of our South Park Fresh Starts program; he and his lovely fiance Kathy re-vamped the greenhouse here at the South Park Neighborhood Center in order to provide vegetable plant starts to our food bank clients. Last year, in our pilot year, they handed out approximately 2400 plant starts–we estimate this gave our families in need more than 3000 pounds of additional fresh produce to eat!

In order for Nature’s Path to even look at Todd’s idea, we have to be in the top three for votes online. Please take a moment to register (very easy, very tiny, not terribly invasive…promise!!) for what could be a great boost to our food bank in the long run!
